On June 19, 2014, San Francisco class action lawyers Keller Grover LLP and their co-counsel filed a class action complaint against Twitter Inc. in the Northern District of California for violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The complaint alleges that Twitter violated the TCPA by sending unsolicited text messages to certain consumers that have recycled cellular telephone numbers.
According to the complaint, the TCPA prohibits companies like Twitter from sending text messages to consumers, including consumers who have recycled telephone numbers, using an autodialer without first obtaining their prior express consent.
Through the class action lawsuit, Keller Grover consumer lawyers and their co-counsel seek damages on behalf of individuals that received the alleged unsolicited text messages as well injunctive relief that would prohibit Twitter from continuing the practices alleged in the complaint.
A copy of the First Amended Complaint, which was filed on September 2, 2014, is available here.
